Dionne Warwick and Sinbad Skip Taxes

10 April, 2009 (04:01) | Business, News | By: O.C.

I am beginning to think I am the only sucker stupid enough to pay taxes.

Adding to a list that includes several people in the current administration, we now find out that a couple of has-been entertainers are seriously delinquent on paying state taxes in California. Dionne Warwick reportedly owes about $2.2 million while Sinbad is on the hook for about $2.5 million.

I supposed it really is true that rick people don’t pay taxes.  Something I will need to think about this weekend as I finalize my federal return.

Unpaid Taxes. Again.

More proof that Democrats want you and I to pay more taxes, but don’t believe they should have to pay their fair share. Another day, another Obama appointee.  This time it is former Dallas Mayor Ron Kirk who failed to pay close to $10,000 in taxes related to speaking fees that were donated to charity.

The White House stated that the failure to pay was a minor event.  Sure.  As they make plans to jack up my taxes to bailout every deadbeat banker and homeowner in the country.

So Democrats want to raise my taxes (and yours) but apparently do not like to pay their own.  Interesting.

Or perhaps there is a silver lining. As one wag put it, there are now at least two cabinet level officials that believe taxes are too high!

Tax Rebates Increased Spending. For Now.

There is a puzzling head on Bloomberg.com today. Spending Probably Rose on Tax Rebates: U.S. Economy Preview.”

Probably? That is an odd hedge.  Of course spending rose with those tax rebate checks. Americans would never do anyting foolish with “free” money like save or invest it. Or even pay the rent or mortgage payment with it. The problem is that the rebate is a one time shot. Once it is gone, what happens then?  Not all the checks have been sent out. Rebates checks are still being sent out through September which will probably give the economy a little juice until the fall.  And then what?
